Ponds are themselves like little planets which have very specific kinds of plant sand animals. The pond habitat can be extremely intriguing and captivating especially if there are a lot of life forms in one. Many animals live near ponds or lakes due mainly to it being their source of water and in many cases their source of food.

Other animals that may be included in a pond habitat are worms, ducks, geese, rats, beavers and many more. Salamanders and newts can be found in some pond habitats around the world as well as snakes. There may be other different kinds of animals near a pond. This would depend on where the pond is located.

Not only are the animals crucial for a healthy pond habitat but the plant life is one of the most integral sources of life here. Most plants that grow near ponds are essential to the fish and other aquatic life as well as land animals. The plants and animals have a give and take relationship that is part of the habitat that makes up a pond.

Maintaining the habitat of a particular pond or lake is essential to the survival of the said body of water. The pond habitat is actually a delicate balance of animals, plants and the environment that depend on each other for upkeep and survival. Once a main character in the habitat is eliminated, the others are sure to follow. Pond habitat loss can trigger a chain of events that can affect the surrounding areas.
