The Ideology Involved in Pond Construction

More or less, this is a straight forward presentation into the proper steps for pond construction. There is a lot of pre-contemplation that needs to be considered when deciding on constructing a pond. For example, what type of pond liner will you need to mould the lining of your magnificent pond? These questions can be devious if you do not have the right help to make your decision. Here is some insight that will help you construct the perfect pond.

Pond Location is Key in Pond Construction

Finding the perfect pond location adds the true value of the perfect pond. In finding the perfect location you should mark out some key features to accentuate the magnitude of elegance that you will be receiving with your purchase of such a magnificent device. Be sure to remove any foliage from the area where you are going to place the pond and outline the liner with chalk to prevent any excessive movement that will increase the odds of damaging the base of the pond. A note to remember is that it only requires about three inches of soil to be removed for the pond liner.

Pond Foundation is the Essence of Pond Construction

The essential materials needed for forming the foundation of a pond is sand, level, and labor. Spread sand within the area that was excavated for the pond liner. Be sure to use the level to smooth out any areas that are uneven so that the liner will be level and secure also. Be sure to settle the pond liner into the sand so that you will know for sure if it is secure within the sand before proceeding forward.

Adding a Retaining Wall to reinforce the Pond

When doing pond construction, be sure to add a retaining wall around the periphery of the pond to provide a decorative feel to aid the natural look of your pond and it will help conceal the liner of the pond. Add a minimal 16-in. gap between the blocks and the edge of the pond liner with about a dozen blocks.

Use stakes and strings around the outside of the wall to create a level line and replace each block with a flag on the line. Cut through the sod that was applied around the outside edge of the wall so that stones can be placed after digging out the sod and fill dirt. Apply landscape block adhesive to the top of each individual block and then set the second course into place.

Installing Back-Fill

Install back-fill by putting gravel and sand in between the stones and the pond liner. The gravel will prevent drainage and the sand will provide spacing.

Upper Pools Used during Pond Construction

Positioning the second tier of pools in the peripheral of the pond will give added conformity to the main pond filler. By adding rows of stones to adjoin to the pond this will create platforms to adjacent pools. Fill the open areas with mulch.

Mechanisms of Pond Construction

The mechanics are simple and finite. It consists of a pump and filter with two hoses. Allow the pump to fill with water and run into the concealed hoses to the upper ponds. The filter will remove any impurity and make sure that your pond continues to run pure and clean. Be sure to plug the pump into a ground fault circuit interrupter to prevent the chance of fire. You could even consider installing a trellis to suit your changing tastes.
